Review: 2019 Volvo XC90

The 2019 Volvo XC90 is an excellent SUV for you and the whole family. The interior of the XC90 is top of the line and is packed with safety features, offering you peace of mind while you’re taking your family on daily trips to school or a cross-country vacation. 

With the 2019 Volvo XC90, you will have a choice between three engines. The T5 model of the XC90 comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower. This model is standard with front-wheel drive, but an all-wheel drive is an available option.

The T6 model of the 2019 XC90 comes with a turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine, making 316 horsepower and coming standard with all-wheel drive. The third model of the XC90 is the T8 which has a plug-in hybrid engine paired to an inline-four twin-charged engine with an electric motor which churns out a combined 400 horsepower. The T8 hybrid engine is also standard with all-wheel drive. All three engine options come paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Features & Technology
The 2019 Volvo XC90 offers four trim levels, though not every combination is possible. The standard trim for the Volvo XC90 is the T5 Momentum with front-wheel drive. The standard features include leatherette upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, a panoramic moonroof, four-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and a hands-free liftgate. The standard infotainment system is a 9-inch touch screen that equips your vehicle with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a 10-speaker sound system, and satellite radio.

The Volvo XC90 R-Design has a sportier look and adds features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, adaptive headlights, paddle shifters, and leather upholstery. The XC90 Inscription trim adds heated and ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, and upgraded design accents.

The Excellence trim is a four-seat model that adds a rear beverage cooler, two crystal glasses, footrests and tray tables, second-row massaging seats, and a touch screen in the rear center console. The Excellence trim is the epidemy of luxury.

For the 2019 XCO90, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives a five-star overall crash test rating. The 2019 Volvo XC90 gets five out five stars in the frontal and side crash tests, and four stars in the rollover test.

The XC90 doesn’t only score well in crash tests; it is a leader in its group when it comes to safety features. All 2019 XC90 models come standard with rearview camera, following distance indicator, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and keep assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, driver attention monitoring, and speed limit recognition. Volvo also equips the XC90 with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, oncoming collision mitigation, and pedestrian, cyclist, and large animal detection.
